Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Himalaya Airlines, one of the leading airlines operating international flights from Nepal, is to connect Kathmandu, the capital city of China, with Shenzhen, the economic and technology hub of China.
The company has announced to operate Kathmandu-Shenzhen-Kathmandu direct flight service from June 21. Under the new flight, there would be two weekly flights between Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu and Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport in China. The flights from Kathmandu to Shenzhen would operate every Tuesday and Thursday while the flights from Shenzhen to Kathmandu would operate on Wednesday and Friday.
“This service is an important step towards the expansion of Nepal-China air connectivity and it plans to increase the number of flights in future based on the demand of the passengers,” the statement said. “Adding new destinations is a strategic achievement of expanding the international network of Himalaya Airlines,” said Vijay Shrestha, Vice President of Himalaya Airlines. He expressed his confidence that the Kathmandu-Shenzhen flight would further strengthen people-to-people relations and expand tourism, trade and investment opportunities.
“Himalaya Airlines is continuously trying to connect Nepal with various Chinese cities. The Shenzhen flight will further strengthen the economic and cultural ties between Nepal and China,” Shrestha said.
China’s “Silicon Valley”, Shenzhen is one of the world’s leading technology, manufacturing and innovation hubs. The new air service is expected to directly benefit business travellers, tourists, students and investors. Himalaya Airlines is committed to provide safe, convenient and quality service to its passengers. The company has hoped that with the new flights, there would be tourism promotion, trade expansion and people-to-people relations between Nepal and China.
