Contractor cancels contract for failure to complete work on time

. Khajura Rural Municipality of Banke district has annulled the contract agreement signed with a contractor for failing to complete the project on time.

Chief Administrative Officer of Khajura Rural Municipality, Dil Bahadur Poudel, said that the contract agreements for five projects have been cancelled as the progress of the construction works was not satisfactory, there was no improvement even after a long time and the contractors were not willing to complete the work.TAG_OPEN_div_18 According to him, all the five contracts signed with Aman Construction, Gulariya-5, Bardiya for the construction of projects in different wards of the rural municipality have been annulled.

On February 25, 2020, Aman Construction signed a contract with Gulariya-5, Bardiya to blacktop around 500 meters of road at Khajura Rural Municipality-4.TAG_OPEN_div_16 Although the company had signed an agreement to complete the construction by June 15, 2021, the work has not been completed yet.

} Separate contracts were called for two parts under the project, but the work of laying gravel and gravel was done but the road has become dilapidated again due to lack of blacktopping. Plans to construct the road from NIC Bank, which was awarded the contract by Aman Construction, to Manakamana, to the house of Gopal Singh Ale to Lal Bahadur Rajali’s house, and to upgrade the road from Bigaun number 90 to 105 are also incomplete for years.

Chief Administrative Officer Poudel said that the local government had issued a public notice on November 18 asking why it should not be blacklisted by annulling the contract as the progress of the construction works was not satisfactory, improvement was not seen even after a long time and the contractors were not taking initiative towards completing the work.

According to him, the contract agreement with Aman Construction, Gulariya-Bardiya has been terminated as it could not provide credible basis to proceed with the construction work as per the agreement within the stipulated period after the issuance of the public notice.TAG_OPEN_div_10
