Kathmandu. The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an interim order to the government not to immediately appoint the board members of Nepal Airlines Corporation.

A division bench of Justices Kumar Regmi and Shreekanta Poudel issued the order to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepal Airlines Corporation and selection committee not to proceed with the recruitment process.

Upendra Bahadur Karki had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court claiming that he was unjustly deprived of selection despite being shortlisted through competitive process. After hearing the petition, the court issued an interim order.

At a time when the government is preparing to elect the board of directors and chairman of the NOC through open competition, the process of appointment has been put on hold with the Supreme Court’s order.
