Kathmandu. At least 12 people have been injured in a shooting near a community festival in the US city of Toledo, Ohio. Police said they are searching for the culprits.

Two of the injured were in critical condition, according to the deputy chief of the Toledo Police Department. Preliminary investigations suggest that at least two men may have fired at each other.

The incident took place around an annual community festival in Toledo’s historic area. Live musical performances, cultural programs and visits to local historic houses were also part of the festival.

After the shooting, panic spread among the people present at the festival site. According to eyewitnesses, people ran for their lives after hearing gunshots. Footage posted on social media showed people rushing and emergency workers trying to rescue the injured.

A witness at the scene said he was watching a concert with friends when he heard gunshots. According to him, everyone was lying on the ground after the shooting. After some time, he saw a weapon thrown near him. Police personnel deployed for the security of the festival immediately reached the spot.

Ohio’s governor expressed deep concern about the incident and said summer community celebrations should be a safe place for families and children. Stating that violent incidents would spread insecurity and fear in the community, he demanded an impartial investigation into the incident.

Police have launched a search operation to identify and arrest those involved in the incident. No arrests have been made so far or the reason for the incident has not been released.

Further investigation into the case is underway, police said.
