Kathmandu. Marriott International and CG Hospitality Global have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish two ultra-luxury hotels—The Ritz-Carlton Kathmandu and The Westin Kathmandu. Marriott’s world-renowned luxury and premium hotel brands will be entering Kathmandu for the first time.
According to the agreement, the new rooms will be added to Marriott’s portfolio after the Ritz-Carlton Kathmandu and The Westin Kathmandu come into operation. These hotels are expected to be operational by 2031. CG Hospitality Global is the fast expanding hospitality arm of Chaudhary Group.
The group’s investments include hospitality, FMCG, financial services, telecommunications, education, infrastructure, cement, electric vehicles and real estate. Headquartered in Kathmandu, Chaudhary Group is committed to establish Nepal as a world-class tourism and hospitality destination and contribute to the long-term tourism and economic development of the country.
Chaudhary Group and Marriott International have been collaborating for a long time through various hospitality projects in South Asia. The Westin Kathmandu and The Ritz-Carlton Kathmandu will be produced by Nepal’s leading business houses in partnership with Chaudhary Group, IEG Group, IJ Group and Sharma & Company.

The Ritz-Carlton Kathmandu
The Ritz-Carlton Kathmandu, which is entering Nepal for the first time, will operate its service in Thamel, the main tourist area of Kathmandu. The hotel will have 150 rooms including 30 spacious suites. Guests will have access to five different restaurants and bars, an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center and The Ritz-Carlton Spa. In addition, the hotel will have a state-of-the-art convention and event hall spread over 1,100 square meters, suitable for commercial and social events.
The hotel will be located at a distance of five kilometers from Tribhuvan International Airport. It will also be located close to major cultural sites like Thamel, Narayanhiti Durbar Museum, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa and Pashupatinath Temple.
The Westin Kathmandu
The Westin Kathmandu will have 150 premium rooms and suites, which will be built about 7 kilometers away from Tribhuvan International Airport. The hotel will feature three dining areas, a westin workout fitness studio, Heavenly Spa by Westin, a rooftop swimming pool and more than 700sqm of seating and banquet facilities with natural light and smart technology.
The agreement on these two hotels is the latest significant acquisition between Marriott International and CG Hospitality. In less than two years, more than 75 hotels have been signed under the series by Marriott in India and 50 hotels have come into operation in 43 cities.
Outside India, CG Hospitality has already launched ‘The Farm at San Benito, Autograph Collection’ in the Philippines, marking the first entry of the Autograph Collection brand in the country. CG Developers also announced the construction of Central Dubai’s first JW Marriott branded Residence in Dubai Islands and JW Marriott Hotel in Siliguri-Matigara, India.
