Kathmandu. Israel says it has fired a missile at Israel for the first time since the ceasefire took effect in early April. The incident has raised the possibility of a full-scale war erupting again and complicates peace efforts.
Iran’s state broadcaster confirmed the missile attack. Iran has closed its western airspace in preparation for a possible retaliatory attack. Earlier, Iran said that Israel had attacked the southern suburbs of Beirut in Lebanon, for which the missiles were fired.
In a statement, Iran’s Revolutionary Security Forces warned of a “more comprehensive response” against US and Israeli targets if such attacks are repeated.
Warnings were sounded in several areas of Israel after the missile strikes, and hundreds of thousands of people fled to shelter. According to the Israeli military, most of the missiles were neutralized by air defense systems. Some explosions were heard in the northern region.
The Israeli military has said that Iran has made a serious mistake and will retaliate if necessary. However, US President Donald Trump has indicated that Israel does not need a more military response. He said in an interview that he would make all the major decisions.
The incident has once again escalated tensions in the Middle East and raised serious questions about the future of the ceasefire.
