Kathmandu. In the spring of 2026, the task of climbing various mountains including the world’s highest peak Sagarmatha has been completed.

A total of 1,195 domestic and foreign climbers had taken permission to climb various mountains including Mt Everest this year. The Department of Tourism has been granting permission to climbers to climb mountains above 6,500 meters. Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has been giving permission to smaller mountains than that.

Of them, 159 are from China, 152 from America, 101 from India, 75 from Germany, 74 from Britain, 70 from Russia, 44 from Nepal, 41 from Canada, 32 from Poland and 27 from France.

Information Officer at the Nepal Tourism Board, Himal Gautam, said that a total of 1,195 climbers have taken permission to climb 31 mountains this year. A total of 390 men and 105 women from 56 countries had taken permission to climb Mt Everest.

He said that more than a thousand climbers, including their helpers and guides, have successfully scaled Mt Everest.

This year, the highest number of climbers (109) are from neighbouring China. Of these, 77 are from the United States of America, 61 from India, 32 from the United Kingdom, 18 from Russia, 15 from Australia, 14 from Japan, 12 from Canada, 12 from Nepal and 11 from Ireland.

This year, Kami Rita Sherpa has set a new world record by scaling the Mt Everest for the 32nd time. Sherpa from Solukhumbu had broken his own record by scaling Mt Everest on May 13. Likewise, Lakpa Sherpa of Makalu in Sankhuwasabha set a world record by scaling the Sagarmatha (Mt Everest) 11 times. He has also broken his own record.

The government has collected Rs 108 million 10 million 725 from the Everest climbing permit. Similarly, Rs 66.871 million revenue has been collected from Lhotse Himal, Rs 31.7 million 85 thousand 800 from Makalu I, Rs 166 lakh 99 thousand 200 from Ama Dablam and Rs 16.6 million 40 thousand 500 from Kanchenjunga and Rs 12 million 49 thousand 175 from Annapurna I.

The government has collected Rs 1.26 billion in revenue for granting permission to climb mountains in the spring of this year.
