Chitwan. The District Cooperative Association of Chitwan has brought into operation a Sajha Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station.
The Association, which has been operating petrol pumps, has brought the station into operation with four charging devices to charge eight vehicles.TAG_OPEN_div_22
The charging station has been set up at Bharatpur Metropolitan City-10.TAG_OPEN_div_20 The electric charging equipment has been installed at four centres that can charge eight vehicles at a time at the cost of Rs 15 million, said Binod Khatiwada, manager of the association. Equipment with a capacity of 120 kilowatts has been installed. According to him, fast charging can be done from these centers.
} The association used to crush mustard oil and operate a common petrol pump. The price of diesel and petrol is Rs 4 million per day and mustard oil is consumed at Rs 6,000 per month. He said that the charging station has been established with the objective of providing convenience to the service recipients. Currently, the union has been providing direct employment to 30 employees.
With the use of electric vehicles (EVs), charging stations have been opened in the district.TAG_OPEN_div_16 Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has set up a charging station at the Central Bus Park in Bharatpur where four vehicles can charge it at a time.
Soon after, NEA brought into operation another charging station at Mugling.TAG_OPEN_div_14 At present, the number of equipment has been increased to 12 at the bus park. If one vehicle is not working, 22 vehicles can be charged in the remaining 11. Apart from this, 31 stations have been operated commercially from the private sector to various places.
According to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Bharatpur Distribution Centre’s engineer Milan Sapkota, the stations have been brought into operation at two places of NEA and 31 places of private sector.TAG_OPEN_div_12 Apart from these, there are many charging stations in hotels and restaurants to serve their customers.
