Acting Executive Director Shrestha directs contractors to complete Lapsiphedi substation within 3 months

Kathmandu. Meanwhile, Acting Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Dirgha Kumar Shrestha has directed the contractors to complete the Lapsiphedi substation within the next three months.

Project Management Director, Juju Ratna Shakya, and Shreeram Pokharel along with their team visited the construction site of Lapsiphedi 400/220/132 KV and 132/11 KV Changunarayan Substation.

Minister Pun directed the operation of the Lapsiphedi substation to expedite the construction works by mobilizing the required human resources, equipment and resources to make the electricity supply system of Kathmandu Valley more systematic and reliable. “The recently unveiled ‘Power Consumption Growth and Export Strategy-2083 BS’ aims to expand electricity consumption, industrialization, increase the use of electric transportation and clean energy,” he said. ’

During the inspection, Minister Pun briefed the participants about the progress of construction, technical condition and operational preparedness of both the substations. The Minister also held discussions with the concerned officials and contractors during the inspection.

NEA plans to develop the Lapsiphedi substation as the main hub of the national grid through Khimti-Barhabishe-Lapsiphedi 400 kV transmission line that will supply electricity from the Upper Tamakoshi and Bhotekoshi corridors to load centers in the Kathmandu Valley.

As it will be connected to 400 kV Lapsiphedi-Ratmate of MCA-Nepal, it will be an important 400 kV hub for national and regional grid. He also gave priority to the construction of Changunarayan 132/11 KV substation.
