Mustang. MUSTANG: The Chinese electric vehicles of BYD Company seized by the Armed Police Force (APF) for the past two weeks have been released from Mustang.
The Armed Police Force Nepal (APF) Nepal has taken control of the vehicles from Jomsom and Korala checkpoints since Sunday evening, according to APF Nepal 33 Company, Jomsom.
A total of 775 electric vehicles of BYD had entered Nepal via North Korlana of Mustang in the second and third week of May. Among them, 649 electric vehicles have been cleared by the Mustang Customs Office, Nechung. The Armed Police Force (APF) had impounded the electric vehicles coming from Korala checkpoint fearing that the import process might be negligent.
Simon Inc had purchased all these electric vehicles from Korala border point and brought them to Nepal. The three-member probe committee was formed by the Ministry of Finance under the coordination of Bhupal Raj Shakya, director of the evaluation section under the Department of Customs, Policy and Operation Division, to ascertain whether the vehicles were safe or not.
The probe committee formed by the government had carried out onsite monitoring of the seized electric vehicles at Jomsom and Korala checkpoints of Kaski, Parbat and Mustang on June 4. According to the preliminary report of the committee, the preliminary conclusion has come that no shortage of electric vehicles entering Nepal through Korala border point has been found.
Earlier, the Armed Police Force (APF) had impounded 98 electric vehicles at Hemja of Kaski and 17 electric vehicles at Kushma of Parbat for the past two weeks. Likewise, the APF impounded 266 electric vehicles from Korala checkpoint of Mustang to Jomsom via Lomanthang and 394 electric vehicles from Korala checkpoint.
The vehicles seized by the APF were handed over to the concerned party on Sunday evening, said Deputy Superintendent of APF Nepal 33 Battalion, Bhesh Raj Giri. According to him, all the electric vehicles seized under control as per the central directive of the Armed Police Force Nepal were freed from Sunday evening.

According to him, out of 266 electric vehicles parked at Jomsom Bus Park, 223 electric vehicles had left for their destinations on Sunday and Monday. According to the Armed Police Force, out of 266 electric vehicles left at Jomsom Bus Park, only 43 are left.
Similarly, the APF Nepal 33 Company said that among the electric vehicles parked at Korala checkpoint, the vehicles that have passed the customs clearance will also be taken to the destination respectively while the electric vehicles without customs clearance will also be transported to the destination after completing the necessary customs process.
