Seven arrested for cheating people on the pretext of sending them abroad

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: A police team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office has arrested seven persons on the charge of swindling millions of rupees in the name of sending them abroad for foreign employment.

The arrestees have been identified as Santosh Adhikari, 28, of Arghakhanchi, Hemanta KC, 29, of Dang, Sukdev Rai, 42, of Sunsari, Manish Podar, 34, of Sunsari, Ram Ratan Mishra, 47, of Rupandehi, Amrit Adhikari, 39, of Kaski and Mir Islamana, 35, of Rautahat.

According to the police, Santosh has gone missing with Rs 1 million in the promise of sending him to Greece, Rs 13.30 lakh in the promise of sending him to Croatia, Suk Dev with Rs 1.3 million in the promise of sending him to Serbia, Manish with Rs 200,000 in the promise of sending him to the UK, Ram with Rs 2.30 lakh, Amrit with Rs 350,000 in the name of sending him to Azerbaijan and Rs 12.63 lakh in the UK.

They have been sent to the Foreign Employment Department, Tahachal, Kathmandu for necessary investigation and action, said Spokesperson Thapa Chhetri.
