Dang. The Ghorahi sub-metropolis has blacktopped 198-km road in the last nine years.

According to Narulal Chaudhary, 458 kilometres of roads have been upgraded and graveled, 280 kilometres of new roads have been constructed and repair of 68.3 kilometres roads has been completed in the past nine years. According to him, 207 culverts and five suspension bridges have been constructed to connect all wards of the municipality with the center. For urban beautification and sanitation, 99 kilometers of sewerage and a well-managed sanitary landfill site have been brought into operation. The risk of floods and erosion has been reduced by constructing embankments in a 20.9-km stretch to control the river.

Mayor Chaudhary said the municipality has constructed 108 wells and 77 deep borewells to ensure access to clean drinking water to 92 per cent households. A total of 43 artificial reservoirs have been constructed targeting the agriculture sector. He said that irrigation facility has been expanded to 738 hectares of land. In the energy sector, 87 kilometres of transmission lines have been laid and seven solar power plants have been installed.

According to Mayor Chaudhary, 27 school buildings and 39 new classrooms have been added in the education, health and social security sector while IT labs have been set up in most community schools. Buildings of 28 health institutions have been constructed. In the social security sector, the bank has distributed more than Rs 635.8 million social security allowance to 17,374 beneficiaries.

Ghorahi has so far formulated 138 local laws to validate the governance system. Mayor Chaudhary said that the service delivery has been made fast and transparent by implementing an electronic governance system like online event registration, recommendation of online citizenship and revenue collection from the ward level. Similarly, 1,300 induction stoves and 450 improved stoves were distributed to support the smoke-free kitchen campaign.
