Indian tourists throng hotels in Pokhara 

Kaski. Pokhara—The hotels in Pokhara are full of Indian tourists. The footfall of most of the Indian tourists has increased in the streets and Barahi temple of Lakeside at this time.

According to Dhan Bahadur BK, joint secretary of the Fewa Boat Entrepreneurs’ Association, around four to TAG_OPEN_div_22 five thousand Indian tourists visit the lake every day. BK said that for the past one and half months, Indian tourists have been showing interest in visiting the Barahi temple situated in the middle of the Fewa lake. “The trend of waiting for boats near the lake throughout the day and going home empty-handed in the evening has disappeared with the increase in Indian tourists,” said joint secretary BK. At present, 140 boats are plying daily from Barahi Ghat.

Treasurer of TAAN Gandaki Dipak Sapkota said that one and a half lakh Indian tourists have visited Pokhara in the last one and half months alone.TAG_OPEN_div_20 According to him, Indian tourists are now full of hotels ranging from five-star hotels to small hotels and dharamshalas.

Hotelier Parbati Pandey said that tourists are bargaining over food rather than rooms.TAG_OPEN_div_18 In India, hotel rooms are expensive, so they do not do much bargaining in the room. Stating that the hotels in Pokhara are well attended by Indian tourists, he said that if we could publicize the touristic and religious sites of Nepal in India, Nepal would be full of Indian tourists.

Although it is considered as ‘off-season’, the number of tourists has increased significantly, which has made the tourism entrepreneurs more excited. According to tourism entrepreneurs, the wave of inflow of tourists that started from the Nepali New Year has continued till the end of June.
