Taplejung. Sidingwa Rural Municipality of Taplejung has announced to provide 50 percent subsidy on electricity tariff to consumers consuming up to 50 units of electricity from the coming fiscal year 2083/84.
Chairman Man Bahadur Rai made the announcement while presenting the policies and programmes of the rural municipality at the 19th village convention of the rural municipality held on Sunday.TAG_OPEN_div_15 The rural municipality hopes that the relief program will directly benefit the low- and middle-income families.
Rural municipality’s information officer Rudra Begha said that more than 2,500 households in the rural municipality consuming 50 units of electricity monthly would be benefited from the programme.TAG_OPEN_div_13 He said that this facility will not be applicable to consumers consuming more than fifty units of electricity.
On the occasion, Chairman Rai unveiled various programmes to increase self-sufficiency in agriculture, encourage farmers and increase local production with the slogan ‘One house, one vegetable garden, organic vegetables’.TAG_OPEN_div_11 He said that continuity of lab service would be made to make the ‘healthy soil, healthy product’ healthy kitchen, healthy life programme effective, encourage the production and use of organic fertilizer and arrange for subsidies for animal husbandry.
Meanwhile, the rural municipality has presented a budget of Rs 530.TAG_OPEN_div_9 8 million for the coming fiscal year. Vice-chairperson Krishna Kumari Kandariya presented the budget at the village assembly and convention of the rural municipality. The rural municipality has prioritized electricity tariff subsidy, increase in agricultural production, promotion of organic farming and raising the living standard of the local people in the policy and programme and budget unveiled by the rural municipality.
