Opposition demands clarification on border statement on PM Oli

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has demanded that the House of Representatives clarify again about the remarks made by Prime Minister (PM) Balendra Shah regarding the country’s border.

Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal gave time to the lawmakers of the opposition parties to put their views in the meeting after the lawmakers stood up from their seats at the outset of the meeting.

Renuka Kauncha of the Nepali Congress accused the Prime Minister of lowering the dignity of the parliament as the issues that should have been clarified by the Prime Minister in the parliament were presented in the party’s general convention.

Pushpa Raj Kandel of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN-UML) also stressed that the Prime Minister should be present in the parliament and clarified the statement on the border. He accused the government of arresting CPN (UML) Vice-Chairman Bishnu Prasad Poudel out of prejudice.

Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) lawmaker Yubaraj Dulal stressed that the government’s efforts should be focused on strengthening the federal democratic republic. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the proposal of the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party to restructure federalism by dissolving the State Assembly.

Aren Rai of the Labour and Culture Party demanded that the Prime Minister should be present in the parliament and clarify about the issues related to nationality.
