Kathmandu. Finance Minister Dr. KATHMANDU: Swarnim Wagle administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly-appointed chairman of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) today.
He administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly-appointed Chairman of the Board, Dr Gopal Prasad Bhatta, amidst a programme at the Ministry on Monday.
A cabinet meeting held on June 5 had appointed Bhatta to the post of chairman of the board.
After the swearing-in ceremony, Finance Minister Dr Wagle directed the newly-appointed Chairman Bhatta to work honestly for the security and welfare of the investors’ investment.
He also directed Bhatta to stay away from any kind of greed and temptation.
He also said that the newly-appointed chairman should pay special attention to protect investors’ investment and catch the rhythm of economic growth through capital mobilization in the market.
“Protect the investment of the investors in the capital market without any greed and influence,” said Finance Minister Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada. Wagle said, “I am with you. The government will provide all kinds of support. Create an environment for economic growth through capital mobilization. ’
Finance Minister Dr. Wagle also directed the newly-appointed chairman Bhatta to present plans for every day, week, month, 6 months and one year to carry out capital market reforms.
Finance Minister Wagle also directed Bhatta to dispel the panic spread among small investors by spreading unnecessary rumors in the market.
He instructed the board chairman Bhatta to prove it by his deeds and not by talking too much.
“Implement the capital market reform plans with a time-frame. Perform the role of regulation efficiently by increasing confidence in the market,” the Finance Minister said. Don’t talk too much, work on the results. I need market briefings every week. ’
On the occasion, newly-appointed board chair Bhatta pledged to work sincerely for the development of capital market as per the plan of the government and the Finance Minister.
He pledged to fully utilize his knowledge, experience and skills to support the government’s economic growth goals for the benefit of market investors.
He said that he would continuously work for the development of the market by implementing the studies and recommendations made at different times for the improvement of the capital market
