Kathmandu. Nepal Telecom (NTC) has launched its 4G mobile service at Murmatop, a popular tourist destination in Mugu district. According to the company, the service was officially launched on July 29, 2083.
Located inside the Rara National Park, Murmatap is a popular destination for its unique view of Rara Lake. It can be reached after a few hours’ trek from Rara Lake, from this place one can observe the panoramic scenery of Rara Lake, mountain range and Karnali and Sudurpaschim region.
With the expansion of the 4G service, tourists, local residents and pedestrians will now be able to use high-speed mobile internet service to reach Murmatop. According to Nepal Telecom, this service will provide reliable communication facility in Murmatop area as well as trekking routes. This will enable tourists to share their travel experience, photos, videos and live updates via social media.
According to the company, the expansion of access to modern telecommunication services is expected to further contribute to tourism promotion in Rara region. In addition, local hotels, homestays, businessmen, and service recipients will be able to use various digital services in a more convenient way, which will also make a positive impact on the local economic activities.
The tower installed for the operation of the 4G service will not only serve in Murmatop area but will also serve as a repeater station for the expansion of telecommunication services in the remote mountainous districts including Humla, Bajura. The company believes that this will further strengthen the quality and access to Nepal Telecom’s mobile and data services in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Earlier, Nepal Telecom had brought the 4G service into full capacity at Rara Lake area from December 1, 2019. With the expansion of service at Murmatop, the communication infrastructure of Rara area has been further strengthened.
