Four experts appointed to CTEVT’s Academy Council

. KATHMANDU — The Ministry of Education and Sports Technology has nominated four experts from the field of information technology, industry, STEM education and nursing and public health as members of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).

IT and digital policy expert Dr. Dr. Amrita Sharma, President of Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI), Birendra Raj Pandey, Co-founder of the factory and STEM education expert Dr. Dipeshwor Man Shrestha and Pramila Rana, an expert in the field of nursing and public health, have been appointed as members of the council.

The CTEVT’s Academy Council is the Council’s premier body for academic and academic leadership.TAG_OPEN_div_40 It plays an important role in curriculum development, approval of new programs, assurance of academic quality, evaluation system and long-term policy direction of TVE.

Nominated members include Dr. Amrita Sharma is an active researcher and policy expert in the field of Information Technology, Digital Transformation, Digital Economy and Public Policy.

He holds a PhD in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and has conducted significant studies and research on the development of information technology industry, digital skills, service export and policy reforms.TAG_OPEN_div_36

The study titled ‘Unlistening IT: Advancing Nepal’s Digital Economy’ conducted by the Institute for Integrated Development Studies (IIDS) under his leadership, pointed out the possibility of developing Nepal as a major destination for IT services export, and presented important suggestions on policy reforms, skilled human resources development and collaboration with the private sector TAG_OPEN_div_34 ।

Birendra Raj Pandey, president of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI), is an established entrepreneur in the construction, infrastructure and industrial sectors.TAG_OPEN_div_32 With an engineering background, he has been leading the construction business, infrastructure development and the private sector for more than three decades.

The experience of the industry sector is expected to help connect technical education more effectively with industry needs, production systems and labor markets.TAG_OPEN_div_30 Similarly, the co-founder of the factory, Dr. Dr. Dipeshwar Man Shrestha has a PhD in STEM education from Tufts University, USA.

He has been making significant contributions to science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics-based practical learning, professional capacity development of teachers, promotion of ‘making’ culture and expansion of innovation-oriented education in Nepal.TAG_OPEN_div_28 His experience is expected to help connect CTEVT’s technical education with creativity, research and entrepreneurship.

Pramila Rana, a nursing and public health expert, holds a Master’s degree in Nursing from India and a fellowship in Health and Society from Wageningen University, Netherlands.TAG_OPEN_div_26 Currently working as a Clinical Coordinator at Nepal Red Cross Society, she has been leading public health, nursing services, emergency response and WASH programs in various national and international organizations including Save the Children, Norvic International Hospital.

His experience in health and technical education is expected to contribute to the production of skilled manpower and enhancement of the quality of practical education.TAG_OPEN_div_24 The participation of experienced personalities from the fields of information technology, industry, STEM education and health is expected to provide CTEVT’s Academy Council with multi-disciplinary expertise.

This nomination is expected to play an important role in developing a quality and employment-oriented education system by connecting technical and vocational education with modern technology, industry needs, innovation and labour market more effectively.TAG_OPEN_div_22
