Kathmandu. Police have arrested a man on the charge of swindling millions of rupees by promising to send him abroad to New Zealand.
The Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office has arrested 42-year-old Indian national Sanjay Kumar.
According to the police, Kumar had extorted Rs 9.80 lakh from one of the victims on the pretext of taking him to New Zealand for foreign employment on the pretext of lucrative salary. After taking the money, the victim had cheated for a long time and eventually went out of contact with the police.
He is a permanent resident of Gopalganj, Bihar, India. Kumar was arrested from Kathmandu-16 on July 30, 2008.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Sharad Kumar Thapa Chhetri said that he has been sent to the Department of Foreign Employment, Tahachal for further investigation and necessary actions.
