Kathmandu. The government has intensified its vigilance and action against those cheating workers in the name of foreign employment and violating the law.

According to the latest report made public by the Department of Foreign Employment, the government has come down those involved in fraud.

The Case and Investigation Section of the Department has registered 25 new cases on 2083/03/19 on the charge of cheating in foreign employment. The department has arrested eight accused and issued arrest warrants against 19 absconding people.

The government is also keeping a close watch on the activities of manpower companies. The organization monitoring section has issued letters to 3 manpower companies today and warned them about various issues.

Although the Department has renewed 47 manpower companies and 7 Pre-Departure Orientation Training Provider Organizations (PDOTs), their working conditions are being continuously monitored.

The government has rescued 2 people and settled 5 complaints in the case of workers who have been cheated and in trouble. The Department has also received 2 concrete commitments to provide services and facilities to the workers as per the agreement in foreign countries.

In order to provide justice to the victims, there have been 8 bilateral discussions and compensation has been provided to 1 person.

The government has given priority to the grievances of the workers and resolved 5 out of 9 complaints received through ‘Hello Sarkar’. Out of 46 complaints received at the department’s call centre, 44 were resolved promptly, which proves how active the government machinery is to address the problems of the victims.

KATHMANDU: The government has issued a stern warning that it will leave no stone unturned to make foreign employment safe and dignified and will bring to book anyone cheating workers.
