Vice-chancellors appointed in seven universities Dr. Bhola Thapa, among others?

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU — Prime Minister and University Chancellor Balendra Shah has appointed vice-chancellors of seven universities including Tribhuvan University.

Vice-chancellor Shah appointed the vice-chancellors from among the candidates recommended by the Vice-Chancellor Selection and Recommendation Committee.

Prof Dr Bhola Thapa has been appointed as the vice-chancellor of Tribhuvan University. Kishan Dutta Bhatta has been appointed as the vice-chancellor of Sudurpaschim University. Rajan Suwal has been appointed as the vice-chancellor of Mid-Western University.

Similarly, Rishiram Kattel has been appointed as vice-chancellor of Agriculture and Forestry University, Shyam Narayan Labh of Rajarshi Janak University, Devendra Adhikari of Pokhara University and Sujan Babu Marhatta of Purbanchal University.

Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel handed over the appointment letters to the newly appointed vice-chancellors at the Ministry today.

The vice-chancellor was appointed through open competition. A recommendation committee was formed under the chairmanship of Minister for Education and Pro-Chancellor Pokharel to recommend the name of vice-chancellor. The committee formed another sub-committee under the leadership of experts and elected the vice-chancellor.

The process for the appointment of vice-chancellors was initiated for the first time through an integrated process as per the ‘Integrated Work Procedure on Selection and Recommendation of Vice-Chancellors of Different Universities, 2083’.

The government had on May 4 called for applications for the vacant post of vice-chancellor in eight universities including Tribhuvan University.
