Kathmandu. Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Gauri Kumari Yadav has directed the representatives of various umbrella organizations of the private sector to immediately reduce the market price.
Speaking at a special meeting organized at the Ministry today, Minister Yadav said that the price of petroleum products in the global market should be determined in a similar proportion as the price of petroleum products has already gone down.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI), Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Federation of Fruits and Vegetable Entrepreneurs and Federation of Rice, Lentils and Oil Entrepreneurs. During the meeting, the entrepreneurs put forth their business problems and grievances to the minister.
After listening to the complaints of entrepreneurs, Minister Yadav directed the government to reduce the price of the goods without any delay, saying the general public have been suffering due to the uncontrolled market price. She urged the government to ease the sale and distribution of essential daily consumables ranging from salt, oil, rice to green vegetables and reduce the prices immediately by looking at the real situation in the market.
He said the ministry would work to make the market as consumer friendly as soon as possible as the government and the Prime Minister were also keenly interested.
Taking into account the minister’s directives and the market situation, the representatives of the private sector who participated in the meeting also gave positive feedback on this issue. They have pledged to fully cooperate with the government to reduce the market price and take necessary steps to provide relief to the general consumers.
The meeting was also attended by joint secretaries of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies and chiefs of corporations related to supply management.
