Bird flu infection continues in Kathmandu Valley

.  Although the outbreak has come under control in most of the districts of the country, the risk of bird flu is still in the Kathmandu Valley and Kavrepalanchowk.

According to the Department TAG_OPEN_div_20 of Livestock Services, the infection has been completely controlled in Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Mahottari, Bara, Chitwan among other districts.

Senior Veterinary Service Doctor at the Department, Dr Mukul Upadhyay, said that although the infection is still in three districts of Kathmandu Valley, the infection is spreading rapidly in Kavrepalanchowk.TAG_OPEN_div_18

According to the department’s data, 754,500 birds, 1 million 91 thousand 303 eggs and 243 thousand 635 kg of feed have been destroyed so far in the country.TAG_OPEN_div_16

Of them, 286,277 birds, 179,064 eggs and 74,TAG_OPEN_div_14 000 kilogrammes of feed were destroyed in three districts of Kathmandu Valley and Kavre alone, according to the Department.

According to Dr Upadhyay, the report has been prepared in coordination with the federal and local governments after carrying out on-site monitoring of the vulnerable areas.TAG_OPEN_div_12 Accordingly, the process of implementing other measures to destroy the birds in the infected area and to control the infection has been initiated.
