Complaint against proposed election commissioner

. KATHMANDU — The Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) has called for complaints against three candidates recommended for the post of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).

Issuing a public notice today, the committee has urged the government to file a complaint with the committee within 10 days if anyone has any concrete basis, evidence or information that the appointment of the persons recommended by the Constitutional Council is not appropriate.TAG_OPEN_div_18

As per the notice, a complaint can be filed in Nepali or English language with evidences against Man Bahadur Karki (Morang) and Dr Rajiv Subba (Kathmandu) and Guru Prasad Wagle (Okhaldhunga) who have been recommended for the post of chief election commissioner.TAG_OPEN_div_16

The complaint should mention the name, surname, address, phone number and district of the complainant. The committee has stated that a copy of the documents of the basis and evidence should also be attached while filing the complaint.

According to the committee, it can be submitted to the secretariat of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee at Singha Durbar or sent through the District Administration Office without any fee.TAG_OPEN_div_12 The committee first published the notice on July 26.

A meeting of the Constitutional Council held on July 3 under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Balendra Shah had decided to recommend them for the appointment.TAG_OPEN_div_10
