Kathmandu. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in many places of the country.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the monsoon trough is slightly higher than the average location and is near the Tarai region of Nepal.

At present, most of the clouds are cloudy throughout the country. Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at some places of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces and at one or two places of Madhes and Sudurpaschim provinces.

In the afternoon, it will be generally cloudy in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces while it will be generally cloudy in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. Likewise, there are chances of moderate ÷rain÷snowfall together with thunder and lightning at many places of the mountainous region of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and at a few places of the mountainous region of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Possibility remains for brief rain accompanied by thunder and lightning at many places of the hilly region of Koshi, Bagmati Province and Gandaki Province and at one or two places of Tarai Province of Madhes and Lumbini Province and at one or two places of Tarai Province in Karn÷ali Province.

Light rain is likely to occur at a few places of the hilly region of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces while heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places of the Terai region of Madhes and Bagmati provinces.

Tonight, it will be generally cloudy in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces while it will be generally cloudy in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. Light rain or thunder likely to occur at many places of the mountainous region of Koshi Province and Bagmati Province, at a few places of Gandaki Province and at a few places of Lumbini, Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province÷ and at a ÷few places of the mountainous region of Lumbini, Karnali Province and Sudur Pashchim Province.

Light rain or thunder likely to occur at many places of the hilly and terai regions of Koshi, Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province and Lumbini Province and at one or two places of hilly regions of Karnali Province and at a few places of Tarai Province in ÷ Province tonight.

Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at few places of the hilly and terai regions of Koshi and Bagmati provinces, and at a few places of the Madhes region. Likewise, there are chances of heavy rain in some places of the hilly region of Koshi and Bagmati provinces.

The Department has urged all to adopt the necessary precaution to be safe from possible risk of natural disasters like mudslide, flood, landslide and soil erosion as there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall with the monsoon becoming active. According to the Department, there is a possibility of affecting daily life as well as agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, road and air transport in these areas.
