Kathmandu. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has made it mandatory for banks and financial institutions to use national identity cards.

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has amended the Integrated Directive 2082 BS for banks and financial institutions.

Banks and financial institutions are required to self-declare whether the details of the national identity card of the account holder are available by the end of October 2083.

In the case of Nepali citizens who have obtained the national identity card, the national identity card or national identity card number of the concerned account holder should be updated by the end of October through a mobile application or other appropriate means.

In case of Nepali citizens who have not been able to obtain the national identity card, an arrangement should be made to inform the concerned account holder every 6 months to update the customer identity by obtaining the national identity card.
