Kathmandu. KATHMANDU — Prime Minister Balendra Shah has said the government is committed to provide any support needed for the entrepreneurship development of women entrepreneurs in Nepal.
During an extensive discussion with the office-bearers of the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Nepal held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Monday, Minister Bhattarai said that the government was working to remove all obstacles to women entrepreneurs and create an environment to promote the products produced in every tourism site.
On the occasion, representatives of the FNCCI demanded for a business-friendly environment where they can work confidently, to participate in special programs and trade fairs, exhibitions, B2B (business matching) and export promotion to take the goods and services to the national and international market. Accepting the FNCCI’s request to establish the trademark brand ‘Ma Udyadi’ in the market, Prime Minister Shah motivated to bring the brand to the market immediately.
In addition, the government’s institutional support was sought at the FNCCI’s annual International Women Entrepreneurs Trade Fair. They also urged the government to give priority to the Public Procurement Act and Regulations to make women entrepreneurs a part of the procurement process and to make it mandatory to purchase goods and services owned by women in all government offices and educational institutions.
Complaining that genuine women industrialists have not received financial concessions, they demanded to extend this facility to every village, expand its scope and arrange alternative arrangement of collateral so that dreams do not come to fruition due to lack of capital.
They also demanded the participation of FNCCI, the umbrella organization of women entrepreneurs, in all policy-making levels and government mechanisms of the government, and expressed commitment to mobilize highly skilled resource persons for skill-oriented training at the local level.
