Kathmandu. The printing of the remaining driving licenses (smart licenses) has been completed. According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Information and Communications has made arrangements for printing the details of the driving license within 24 hours of receiving the details from the Department of Transport Management and providing it to the Department.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry on Thursday, a total of 27 lakh smart licenses were printed as per the two-phase agreement signed between the Ministry, Security Printing Centre and Transport Management Department under the Ministry of Infrastructure Development. The Ministry has stated that with this, the backlog of license printing has been completely ended.

In the first phase, 12 lakh smart licenses were printed within the stipulated time as per the agreement signed on October 26, 2082. After that, the process of printing additional 1.5 million licenses was started on April 17, 2083 by signing the second phase of agreement to manage the remaining applications. According to the ministry, the second phase of the work was completed on July 16, 2083 and a total of 2.7 million smart licenses have been printed.

According to the Ministry, the Security Printing Center has been printing smart licenses within 24 hours based on the three thousand to five thousand details received daily from the Department of Transport Management for service seekers who have passed the trial examination and paid revenue and renewed their licenses. With this provision, the process of issuing new licenses has become faster and more systematic.

According to the Ministry, preparations are being made to sign an agreement on printing driving licenses by coordinating with all seven provincial governments and concerned transport ministries through the Security Printing Centre.

According to the security printing center, along with driving license, citizenship, national identity card, excise duty sticker, postage stamp, land ownership certificate and other security printing materials will be produced in the country. Once such security printing materials are produced in the country, millions of rupees will be saved to go abroad, and will contribute significantly to capital mobilization, employment generation and quality public service delivery within the country.
