Kathmandu. Also speaking on the occasion, Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader Bhishma Raj Angdembe said the festivals would inspire all to move towards a bright future by giving up social distortions, injustice and negative tendencies.

He also extended best wishes to all Nepalis on the occasion of Saun Sankranti and Sise-Kpa Tangnam celebrated by the Kirat-Limbu community with reverence on the same day.

Leader Angdembe was of the view that the anti-democratic tendency, oppression, injustice, corruption and authoritarian mindset should also be bid farewell forever just as disease and evil were bid farewell by throwing away the loot on the Sankranti calendar.

He also wished that the Sawan Sankranti and the Sise-kpa Tangnam festivals would become the days of commitment to the constitution, rule of law, social justice and building of prosperous Nepal by establishing in practice the democratic principle that people are the source of sovereignty.

Nepal’s cultural diversity is our national identity and pride. Hindus celebrate Sawan Sankranti wishing for health, happiness and prosperity along with the tradition of bathing, charity, worship and throwing away the loot.

The Magar community has also been keeping alive the tradition of respecting nature, community unity, continuity of agricultural life and wishing for happiness and prosperity.

Similarly, in the Sisekpa Tangnam celebrated by the Limbu community, new fruits and cereals are offered to Tageraningwa Phumang to express gratitude to nature.
