Madhes Province collects Rs 33 billion revenue

Janakpurdham. The Madhes Province government has collected 70 per cent of the target revenue in the fiscal year 2082/83.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the government has collected Rs 32.TAG_OPEN_div_18 88 billion revenue in the last fiscal year. Statistics Officer at the Ministry of Finance, Rajendra Acharya, said that the inland revenue collection was Rs 5.76 billion.

The provincial government has collected Rs 1.TAG_OPEN_div_16 77 billion from land registration and Rs 2.27 billion from vehicle tax. In the last fiscal year, revenue of Rs 795.66 million was collected from the distribution of driving licenses and vehicle registration fees, Rs 126.39 million from income from transport sector and Rs 201.57 million from the sale of seventy-two vehicles.

The provincial government has received Rs 8.86 billion as Value Added Tax (VAT) and Rs 3.TAG_OPEN_div_14 20 billion as excise duty.

Likewise, the government has received Rs 7.TAG_OPEN_div_12 06 billion under equalization grant from the federal government, Rs 2.17 billion 27.72 million towards recurrent grant and Rs 1.56 billion 30 million under conditional capital grant, Acharya said.

Ansh Kumar TAG_CLOSE_div_10 Jha, information officer at the Ministry of Finance, said that the revenue collection could not be expected due to the decrease in the sale and purchase of real estate and new vehicles due to financial liquidity, and the loss suffered by various revenue collection agencies of the state government during the Jejani agitation on September 7 and 24.TAG_OPEN_div_10
