Landslide obstructs roads along 9 main highways

Kathmandu. Landslides and floods triggered by incessant rainfall have disrupted 9 major highways across the country. According to Nepal Police, the roads of Koshi and Bagmati provinces have been completely and partially obstructed.

However, one-way traffic along the Mid-Hill Highway at Bokhim of Bhojpur Municipality-5 in Koshi Province has been obstructed due to floods. Landslides have completely obstructed the Mechi highway at Rajduwali of Ilam municipality-9 and Khobrekhola of Yangwarak rural municipality-1 of Panchthar district.

Similarly, the Diktel-Bhojpur road section along the Mid-Hill Highway has been completely closed due to landslides at Matekhola area of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi municipality-6 in Khotang district.

The BP Highway has been closed for operation due to possible floods in Bagmati state and vehicular movement along the Kathmandu-Hetauda-Kanti Highway has been halted until further notice.

According to Nepal Police, the Bhotekoshi rural municipality-4, Jurikhola and Kodari Araniko Highway have been completely obstructed due to landslides.

Rasuwa: One-way vehicular movement is allowed along the Pasang Lhamu road section at Bokejhunda of Gosainkunda rural municipality-6 in Rasuwa district.

The Prithvi Highway at Phisling of Ichhakamana rural municipality-3 in Chitwan has been completely obstructed due to a landslide, according to Nepal Police. The one-way highway is in operation at Tismarkhani area of Benighat Rorang rural municipality-10 in Dhading district, but the road at Jawangkhola is completely closed.

Police have urged the general public to travel only after taking information about the latest road condition of the concerned bodies before traveling, saying there is still a risk of landslide and flood as it is raining.
