Iran warns of expanding US strikes if it strikes sensitive areas

Kathmandu. Tehran’s main military command, Khatam al-Anbiya, warned on Wednesday that Tehran would expand its attacks on the United States and its allies if the United States attacked Iran’s nuclear and other sensitive areas.

Iran’s warning came in response to President Donald Trump’s threat that US forces would soon attack Iran’s nuclear facilities under the mountains of the central province of Isfahan.

“If the United States enters the implementation phase of its threat to attack Iran’s nuclear and sensitive facilities, Iran will respond by expanding its war in the Middle East and launching a forceful offensive against the interests of the United States and its allies and supporters,” it said.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement on its official news portal Sepah News that Iran’s military destroyed the early warning radar system and several security-related radars around Kuwait’s Ali Al Salem air base.

The US said the attack was in response to an attack by Iranian forces targeting ships in the Strait of Hormuz, saying the attack was aimed at reducing Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping.

Iran says it has responded with a wave of missile and drone attacks targeting US military facilities in the region, as well as other US facilities.

Tensions have escalated in recent days despite a peace deal signed on June 18, in which the two countries agreed to hold decisive talks within 60 days to reach a final agreement.
