Kathmandu. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has decided to scrap the 3 percent parity fee in the education and health sector.

After consultation with Prime Minister Balendra Shah (Balen), he decided to revoke the fee for the time being by making a ministerial decision on Wednesday.

The fee announced in the budget of the fiscal year 2083/84 came into effect from July 17.

The government had started discussions to remove the fee after public complaints grew regarding the imposed fee. In this regard, consultations were held between the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister on Monday. On Tuesday afternoon, Prime Minister Shah announced that the process of removing the fee would be initiated.

The ministerial-level decision to fully waive the education parity fee levied under Section 16 of the Finance Act 2083 and the Health Equality Fee levied under Section 17 of the Finance Act has been submitted to the Council of Ministers today.
