Kathmandu. Buddha Air has brought its ATR 72-600 aircraft today. According to the press release issued by the company, the flights will start from next month after fulfilling the necessary procedures. Buddha Air brought the call sign 9N-AOS aircraft from Toulouse, France.

The ATR-72-600 is equipped with avionics, full glass cockpit, modern navigation system, digital flight management and advanced safety systems. Aircraft of this series are considered to be environmentally friendly due to their low fuel consumption.

The ATR-72-600 series aircraft imported by Buddha Air are fitted with RNP-AR approach system. With the help of this system, the aircraft can land safely at around 900 meters visibility at Kathmandu and Bhairahawa airports.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) is conducting a study for the implementation of RNP-AR-based flight procedure at Pokhara International Airport. Once this process is implemented, it will be possible for Buddha Air’s aircraft to take off and land safely with visibility of about 2000 meters.

Buddha Air believes that flight delays and disruptions caused by low visibility will be reduced. This will not only maintain flight safety but also enhance the quality and reliability of air services. According to the Instrument Landing System (ILS) process, visibility of 3100 meters is required for Pokhara and 1600 meters for Kathmandu and Bhairahawa.

Buddha Air is also planning to deliver one ATR-72-600 series aircraft by the end of August. It is also planning to bring two more aircraft of the series in the next few months. Buddha Air currently has one ATR 42-320, 15 ATR 72-500 and one ATR 72-600 aircraft.
