Floods, landslides and erosion affect various highways

Kathmandu.  Various major highways and road sections of the country have been obstructed due to floods, landslides and erosion.

According to Nepal Police, the ban on vehicular movement on the BP Highway linking Kavrepalanchowk-Sindhuli will remain in force until 5:00 am today.TAG_OPEN_div_22 Vehicular movement has been prohibited along the Khurkot-Nepalthok-Katunjebesi road section from 6:00 pm to 4:00 am in view of possible floods.

Similarly, all types of vehicles have been banned on the Kanti Highway from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am until further notice.TAG_OPEN_div_20

According to the Nepal Police Headquarters, the road section has been completely obstructed due to the accumulation of mud on the Mechi Highway at Rajduwali of Ilam Municipality-9.TAG_OPEN_div_18 The section has been completely obstructed due to landslides that occurred at Jirokilo of Bhotekoshi rural municipality-4 and Kodari of ward no. 2 of Sindhupalchowk along the Araniko highway.

Vehicular movement along the Lamasanghu-Ramechhap highway has been disrupted after the Samakoshi rivulet eroded some sections of the highway.TAG_OPEN_div_16 According to police, an alternative route has been brought into operation via the premises of Khimti Rural Power Cooperative. The landslide has also obstructed the Trishuli-Mailung-Syafrubesi road section.

Similarly, the Jomsom-Korala road section has been completely disrupted due to rising water level in Ghyakar River of Baragung Mukti Chhetra Rural Municipality-3 in Mustang district.TAG_OPEN_div_14

The Department of Roads and local bodies are trying to resume the obstructed road, police said.TAG_OPEN_div_12
