Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The government has added two more members to the probe committee formed to investigate into the Sunsari incident.

Issuing a secretary-level decision today, the Ministry of Home Affairs appointed Inspector Dipesh Awasthi and Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohan Singh Dhami as members of the committee.

The government on Monday formed a five-member committee under the coordination of Joint Secretary Bhupendra Thapa at the Ministry of Home Affairs to investigate into the incident. The ministry has directed the committee to submit its report on the incident at the earliest.

The Ministry has also started preparedness to prevent similar incidents in Sunsari and other districts. The Ministry is coordinating with the Chief District Officers in Banke, Kapilvastu, Dhanusha, Siraha and Saptari among other districts to maintain peace and tranquillity,” he added.

The ministry has intensified security monitoring and coordination in the area. The security situation in the district was seriously reviewed in the presence of the Home Minister, secretaries and chiefs of security agencies at the Ministry today. The Ministry has been taking initiatives to resolve the problems of Sunsari through dialogue and the situation in other sensitive areas including Dewangunj of Sunsari is returning to normal.
