Janakpurdham. A meeting of all parties and stakeholders held in Saptari has called for maintaining social harmony, peace and security.

The meeting also urged all sides not to make sensational rumour through social sites, make hate speeches targeting religious belief, culture or community, make indecent comments and activities that affect social harmony.

Stressing that political parties, chiefs and chairpersons of local levels, journalists, civil society, intellectuals and guardians should exercise restraint from their respective places, the meeting also decided that the stakeholders should give the message of peace, security, goodwill and discipline to the children through guardians to prevent further damage and unrest in the district from the possible demonstrations and anarchic activities based on the Sunsari incident ।

The decision also states that an environment would be created to strengthen social unity while maintaining multi-ethnic, multi-lingual and multi-religious identity. Campus Chief, Principal and teachers would take special initiatives to prevent the students of schools and colleges from indulging in any kind of untoward activities.

The meeting also agreed to completely control the use of children in demonstrations. It has been decided to organize goodwill rally and dialogue programme at the local level to maintain mutual unity, tolerance and brotherhood among the different castes, languages, religions and communities in the district.

Likewise, the meeting decided to request the bodies concerned to take legal action against the culprits by conducting a transparent and impartial investigation into the Sunsari incident, as well as to provide compensation to the victim’s side and medical treatment to the injured.
