Kathmandu. Prime Minister Balendra Shah (Balen) has said that he was not in favour of a Hindu state and a king.

On Friday, he held a two-hour-long meeting with the leaders of the Madhesi parties. During the discussion, he said that he was not in favor of the Hindu state as the king would come together after the arrival of Hindu state. He said that federalism would be weakened if the king was brought in.

One of the leaders participating in the meeting said that the essence of making the country a Hindu state would be different in the Tarai/Madhes and in the hills. The leaders involved in the discussion are said to have asked questions about Hindu state and king, among other topics. During the meeting, Shah said that the RSP was committed to federalism.

During the meeting, the party leaders drew the attention of Prime Minister Shah to implement the agreement signed by the Home Minister in Sunsari. Shah said that some elements were trying to fulfill their vested interests by inciting communal riots.

He also claimed that the government was working to control the communal riots in Tarai-Madhes. For this, he has also sought the support of the party leaders.
