Kathmandu. This year’s paddy plantation has reached the final stage in Jhapa. Information Officer at Agriculture Knowledge Centre, Jhapa, Chet Raj Bhandari said paddy plantation has been completed in around 94 per cent of the area in the district as of August 3.
Gaurigunj Rural Municipality has recorded the lowest paddy plantation at 85 per cent, while Damak and Kankai municipalities have completed 98 per cent.
Paddy plantation is going on in full swing in the remaining areas and paddy plantation is expected to be completed in the district within the next week.
Paddy is cultivated on 75,459 hectares of land in Jhapa, which is around 76 percent of the total land of the district. Jhapa is one of the major districts of the country in terms of rice production.
Most of the farmers have been able to plant paddy in a favourable time as monsoon has become active on time this year.
