One missing, one injured as dry landslide damages power plant at Gharkhola hydropower project

Kathmandu. MYAGDI: A person is missing and another injured when a landslide buried the powerhouse of Gharkhola Hydropower Project at Pokhrebagar of Annapurna rural municipality-6 in Myagdi district this morning.

The powerhouse worker Deepak Baruwal, 55, of Annapurna-6 was buried and Surendra BK, 31, of Gauriganga municipality-5 was injured in the landslide.

A team of Nepal Police, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, people’s representatives and locals have been searching for the missing wild goat and BK has been rescued in his injuries and sent to State Hospital Beni for further treatment, Police Inspector Sagar Timilsina said.

Today, a dry landslide with stones fell from a hill in the upper part of the power house. The landslide has also damaged equipment at the 14-megawatt Gharkhola Hydropower Project, which is the promoter of Myagdi Hydropower.
