Kathmandu. The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has raided the Radisson Hotel in Kathmandu.
A large quantity of gas was found hidden in the hotel during a raid today. According to the department, around 184 gas cylinders have been found in the hotel alone.
The Department has stepped up surveillance at various hotels and business establishments following complaints that consumers have not been able to get cooking gas despite the supply of cooking gas.
A large number of cylinders of Nepal Gas and STC Gas were found at Radisson Hotel in course of monitoring.
According to the Department, 117 full cylinders of Nepal Gas and 67 cylinders of STC Gas were found in the hotel.

Similarly, around 70 cylinders were found being used in hotel stoves, according to the department.
The Ministry of Industry has said that preparations are being made to take action against the hotels concerned after they were found stocking a huge quantity of cooking gas at a time when there was a shortage of cooking gas in the market.
The ministry has stated that the government will further tighten the surveillance on hotels, business establishments and unauthorized storage of cooking gas to end the shortage of gas in the market.
