Kathmandu. KATHMANDU — The Ministry of Youth, Labour and Employment and Nepal Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs Association have called off all the protest programmes announced by the entrepreneurs.
The protest programmes have been put off after the government and entrepreneurs agreed to make maximum efforts to finalize the amendment process of Foreign Employment Act and Regulations at the earliest possible in order to make the foreign employment sector transparent, safe and disciplined. The agitation launched on August 8 putting forth a 15-point demand had decided to stop sending workers to the destination countries from today.
Dak Bahadur Khatri, president of the association, said that the protest programmes were put off following the discussion between the government and business community in the presence of Minister for Youth, Labour and Employment Ramji Yadav. According to Khatri, it has been put off for the time being as it will take some time to address the demands of entrepreneurs.
He said that most of the 15-point demands put forth by the NRNA during the discussion would be incorporated in the process of amending the Foreign Employment Act and Regulations as most of them were issues of policy address. Chairman Khatri said, “The demands presented by the association remain unchanged. However, since some issues have been included in the amendment of the Act, we have decided to postpone the agitation for some time. ”
Likewise, the Department would facilitate the request with necessary evidences and documents to the Department of Foreign Employment in case other demands of the entrepreneurs are made and the Ministry would address the issue if the problem is not resolved from there.
