Provincial Assembly member Deuba relieved of his post

Far-West. Sudurpaschim Province Assembly member and former Physical Infrastructure Development Minister Prakash Bahadur Deuba has been relieved of his post.

Secretary of the Sudurpaschim Province Assembly, Dev Bahadur Bogati, said that he was relieved of his post after he remained absent in more than 10 meetings of the parliament without informing him as per the provision of the Constitution of Nepal and the State Assembly Regulations. Speaker Bhim Bahadur Bhandari said that the meeting decided to sack Deuba from his post today.

Article 180 (d) of the Constitution of Nepal has a provision regarding the vacancy of the seats of the members of the Provincial Assembly. As per the provision, the post of Provincial Assembly member who remains absent from 10 consecutive meetings without giving notice will fall vacant. Similarly, the Far-Western State Assembly Regulations, 2080 have also made similar provisions.

Deuba had gone to the US on September 28 last year for personal work immediately after the Genji movement. He has not returned to Nepal since then.
