Kathmandu. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has said that the government has not reduced the budget of the health insurance program.

He said this at a dialogue ‘Citizen, Policy and Leadership’ organized by the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) at the party headquarters in Banasthali.

He made this clear while responding to the queries of the citizens who participated in the discussion about the government’s view on health insurance.

He said that the previous government had allocated Rs 10 billion for the health insurance scheme last year.

He also said that the government has increased the budget for health insurance by Rs 5 billion in this year’s budget and allocated Rs 15 billion. “The previous government had allocated Rs 10 billion for the health insurance sector last year. But I have increased Rs 11 billion since I became the minister,” he said, adding, “I have allocated Rs 15 billion for health insurance in this year’s budget.” “

He said that the government’s responsibility towards health insurance was still increasing but there were doubts whether the citizens were getting the services as per the investment.

Stating that the health insurance programme was being continued in the government hospitals, he said that studies were being carried out to make it more effective.
