Landslides obstruct various roads, urged to use alternative routes

Kathmandu. Vehicular movement has been restricted at night on some sections of the country while roads have been disrupted due to incessant rainfall.

As per the details released by the Nepal Police Headquarters till 5:00 am today, various roads in Kavrepalanchowk, Sindhupalchowk, Rasuwa, Rukum West, Lamjung, Ilam, Nuwakot, Rolpa, Palpa and Makwanpur districts have been obstructed.

All vehicular movement along the Khurkot-Nepalthok-Katunjebesi road section of Kavrepalanchowk has been halted from 18:00 pm to 4:00 am in view of the possible risk of floods. Vehicles will be allowed to ply from 4 am to 18 pm.

All vehicular movement along the Kanti Highway in Makwanpur district has been banned from 17:00 pm to 5:00 am due to rainfall.

All public and private vehicles except essential services will be closed on the Tokha-Chhahare road section of Nuwakot from 22:00 am to 5:00 am.

No vehicles will be allowed on the road until further notice. The Mechi highway has been completely obstructed due to the accumulation of mud at Rajduwali of Ilam municipality-9. There is an alternative route at the site.

The highway has been completely obstructed after a landslide occurred along the Araniko Highway at Kodari of Bhotekoshi rural municipality-2 in Sindhupalchowk district and the road collapsed at Liping of the same rural municipality-2.

The Trishuli-Mailung-Syafrubesi road section at Khalte of Uttargaya rural municipality-5 in Rasuwa district has been completely disrupted after the Trishuli River swept away the road. Similarly, the Pasang Lhamu road section has been completely obstructed after a landslide occurred at Syau parking of Gosaikunda rural municipality-2 on Thursday afternoon.

The Jajarkot-Dolpa road section along the Bheri corridor at Aathbiskot municipality-6 in Rukum (West) has been completely obstructed due to landslides.

The Besisahar-Manang road section has been completely obstructed due to landslides at Rambazaar of Marsyangdi rural municipality-4 in Lamjung district.

Similarly, two major road sections of Rolpa and Palpa have been completely obstructed. ROLPA: The Ghorahi-Thawang-Rukum martyrs road has been completely obstructed due to landslides that occurred at Madi rural municipality-6, Jhakali in Rolpa district.

PALPA: The Siddhartha Highway has been completely disrupted due to landslide that occurred some 100 metres north from the entry point towards Palpa of Siddhababa tunnel way at Tinau rural municipality-3 of Palpa. Soil erosion occurred in the area this morning.

Police have urged the bodies concerned to travel with caution and use alternative routes as there is a risk of landslide and flood in the areas where the road has been disrupted.
