Deuba, Khadka file petition at Supreme Court to stop NC’s 15th general convention

Kathmandu. A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court demanding to stop the 15th general convention of the Nepali Congress.

Former President Sher Bahadur Deuba and then Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka had filed a writ petition demanding a stay on the general convention scheduled for coming September.TAG_OPEN_div_15

According to Supreme Court Spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala, the supplementary application has been filed in the petition filed by the Nepali Congress Deuba-led group today.TAG_OPEN_div_13 The court has scheduled a hearing on the petition on August 26.

The Election Committee of the Nepali Congress (NC) has made public the schedule for the 15th general convention to be held in Kathmandu from October 1 to 29.TAG_OPEN_div_11 A writ petition has been filed to stay the decision.

The Supreme Court has been given permission to hear the dispute over the legitimacy of the Congress. The writ petition has demanded to stop the general convention process until the issue is finalized.
