Kathmandu. Rasuwa: Rescue of people affected by flash floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa and relocate them to safer places has been intensified.

Joint Spokesperson of the Armed Police Force (APF) Shailendra Thapa said that the government is providing immediate first aid to the critically injured in the floods in coordination with all three security agencies.

Medical and rescue teams along with necessary equipment have been mobilized in the flood-hit areas for emergency road rescue.

A bed has been vacated at the APF Hospital in Satungal for the convenience of the flood victims.

The Armed Police Force (APF) units in the coastal areas (Nuwakot, Dhading and Chitwan) have been put on alert for disaster rescue.

Armed Police Force vehicles and patrolling teams have been mobilized in the risky settlements along the river banks to immediately shift the people to safer places.

Joint Spokesperson Thapa informed that works are underway to establish and resume temporary health service in Bidur, the district headquarters of Nuwakot.

The APF units are on standby to transport the containers along with emergency relief and rescue materials to the affected areas as per the need. The containers from other parts of the country are being concentrated and mobilized in the flood-affected areas.

The Armed Police Force (APF) has been continuously in communication with the security personnel of China to receive early information regarding the possible glacial lake outburst or risk of flooding in the upper bank of the Bhotekoshi/Trishuli River and to minimize damage.

Deputy Spokesperson Thapa said that works have been expedited to clear the landslides in the risky settlements along the river, main road and corridor for rescue and operation of essential vehicles.

The Armed Police Force (APF) has mobilized drones to identify the people trapped or missing in the flood-hit areas and to assess the damage caused by floods.

A search and rescue team along with Armed Police Force (APF) dogs has been mobilized to search for the people buried in the flood-hit areas including Rasuwagadhi Customs Yard.

Arrangements have been made for the safe take-off and landing of Nepal Army and private rescue helicopters by preparing emergency helipads in flood-hit areas.
