Kathmandu. A total of 7,415 security personnel have been deployed for search, rescue and relief management in the flood-affected areas.

A total of 3,318 Nepal Police, 2,355 personnel from the Nepal Army and 1,742 from the Armed Police Force (APF) have been deployed in the flood-hit areas, said Under-Secretary at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) Ram Bahadur KC.

According to the authority, 239 helicopters have been used for search and rescue operations in the flood-affected areas so far. Of them, 211 people have been rescued by the Nepal Army and 28 by private helicopters.

The NRA has said that search and rescue operations along with relief management are continuing in the affected areas.

According to the NRA, the flood that originated from Tibet through the Bhotekoshi River entered the Trishuli River via Rasuwagadhi, Timure and Syafrubesi, posing a serious risk to the banks of the Trishuli River in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and Chitwan districts. The floods have caused loss of life and property in various places along the coast.

Nepal Army and private helicopters have been mobilized in Rasuwa and Nuwakot to intensify the search and rescue operations following the disaster. Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, National Trauma Center, Bir Hospital and Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital have been mobilized for the treatment of the injured.

Arrangements have been made for temporary accommodation, food, drinking water and medicines at the Nepal Army barracks.
