KATHMANDU: Global IME Bank has announced to provide financial assistance of Rs 50 million to the Prime Minister Natural Disaster Relief Fund for the search, rescue, immediate relief and long-term rehabilitation of the people affected by the severe flash floods in the Bhotekoshi River.
The devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River have caused extensive erosion and inundation in the riverbank areas including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and Chitwan, causing massive human and physical damage. Hundreds of people have lost their lives, many have disappeared and hundreds of families have been rendered homeless due to the high flow of the river. In addition, the river has caused unprecedented destruction by sweeping away local settlements, bridges, road networks and hydropower projects.
Expressing its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and expressing deep condolences to the bereaved families, the bank said in a statement that it has provided the support as a part of its corporate social responsibility to help in the search for the missing, treatment of the injured, immediate food and shelter to the affected people and support in the long-term reconstruction of damaged structures.
The Bank has been taking social responsibility as its main duty to heal the wounds of the citizens in times of national crisis and disaster. In the past, the Bank has been continuously providing financial, physical and humanitarian assistance by being at the forefront of disasters such as floods, landslides, inundations, earthquakes and epidemics in different parts of the country.
