Mailung Khola Hydropower Project halts production

Kathmandu. The powerhouse of the 5 MW Mailung Khola Hydropower Project operating in Uttargaya Rural Municipality-1 of Rasuwa district has been completely damaged due to the massive flood in the Trishuli River.

According to the information provided by Mailung Khola Hydropower Company Limited to Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), the unexpected flood in the Trishuli River at around 9:15 am on August 24, 2008 caused a huge loss to the project.TAG_OPEN_div_14

The power plant of the project was completely damaged due to the floods, according to the company. Also, the condition of the employees working in the project is still unknown, the company said.

The company said that it is collecting necessary details about the damage caused to the project and the condition of the employees. The exact details of the damage caused to the physical infrastructure of the project due to the floods will be revealed only after further study and inspection.

The company informed NEPSE about the incident and said that the power generation of the project has been affected.TAG_OPEN_div_8
